Big Build 2019 is underway. In 1 week, the team will build 10 homes beside local families, supporting Orphaned and Vulnerable children in the community. This is Chrissy, one of the beneficiaries, read her story below.

Chrissy, aged 55, lives with her two grandchildren and her niece in Maambo Village, Lilongwe. She is the sole guardian to all of the children, after the deaths of their parents.

The house that this family is currently living in is in very bad shape. It leaks heavily during the rainy season.  Its grass thatched roof and mud walls are not safe and don't provide the security the family desperately needs. Since the house has a mud floor, there is dust in the house, which contributes to the spread of illness among the children.

As part of Big Build 2019, Chrissy will work alongside volunteers from across Ireland to build a safe & secure place, that she can call home.

This World Habitat Day, raise your voice for families like Chrissy's, who are still fighting for their right to safe shelter.
